The Way You Are by Lea Coll

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

I loved Lily and Jake’s emotional and heartwarming journey in The Way You Are by Lea Coll, book two in the Ever After series. This is a grumpy meets sunshine romance with a blue VW van named Berta, a 1965 Tiger Gold Limited Edition GTO, a very hot barn scene, a grumpy mechanic, a sunny florist with huge plans for her farm, and all of your favorite characters from previous stories.

Lily owns the flower shop in town called Petals; she meets Jake when her VW Van Berta leaves her stranded. He is the rugged co-owner of the auto garage in town Harbor Garage & Service. He is handsome, gruff and protective. Lily is a sweet girl, whom parents don't understand her and always want to change her. She is as her namesake a beautiful soul who loves the flowers and mud. But her mother always tears her down. She is struggling to make her dreams come true and doesn't have the self worth to do it on her own. Jake has had a hard life. Abandoned by his mother, taking care of his sister and his grandmother, Jake believes he is unworthy of love. Despite being gruff and having an attitude, he is smart and highly successful. They both share the trauma of having not such supportive relationships with their parents and understand each other more then some.

Lily and Jake share a strong, magnetic attraction and sizzling chemistry that grows and blooms as they spend time together; though they are both afraid of loving another. They both have deeply buried hurts and insecurities: Jake may not have had a conventional family, but Lily does, and she feels just as abandoned and unwanted as he does; thanks to a toxic person in her family. This story is about love and believing in yourself. Learning to love yourself as much as others.

Lily and Jake will need the strength of each other and their love to overcome any and all obstacles on the journey to finding their forever. I highly recommend The Way You Are to other readers and can’t wait to read the next story in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
