The Accidental Princess by Melissa McClone

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

Christina and Richard’s story in The Accidental Princess by Melissa McClone, book one in Her Royal Duty series, is an entertaining story with romance and a little bit of magic. This was a enjoyable story about an enchanted engagement ring, a skeptical prince and a klutzy American heiress.

While the whole kingdom of San Montico believed the legend of that the girl that was destined to marry the King would have the ring fit- the prince himself refused to choose a bride based on a legend he didn't want to believe. As his birthday approached he had to choose a bride or forfeit his kingdom. A royal birthday party was held to bring all of the potential brides to take a chance trying on the ring. Christina Armstrong’s introduction to His Serene Highness Prince Richard de Thierry of San Montico did not go well, with her nervousness, klutziness. When she is forced to try on the ring, she is mortified that she can’t get it off. She believes she did something wrong. Richard is shocked when he learns of the situation, as he would never choose her for his bride. The two of them have one week to find a way to get the ring off of her finger or they will be forced to marry. Richard had been hurt by a scheming female and believes that all women want him only for the role of Princess; this makes him act like a jerk towards Christina, who has no interest in marrying a prince. Both are on the same page of not wishing to marry each other but as they spend more time together and their families conspire to have them fall in love, fate also steps in. Christina is such an amazing person who only wants to be accepted and loved for who she is. Richard and Christina were an unlikely couple but they were a perfect fit in the end; even if it does take a little magic for them to see it.

Ms. McClone wrote a wonderfully sweet and heartwarming story that is not to be missed. This story contains clever banter, the magic of love, and endearing characters as we follow Richard and Christina’s unusual journey from first meet to falling in love.  I highly recommend The Accidental Princess to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
