Out of the Clear Blue Sky by Kristan Higgins - A story about marriage, divorce, empty-nesters and moving on

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

In Out of the Clear Blue Sky is an amazing and emotional story that is pure Kristan Higgins; you can hear her voice through the words. It is highly relatable and quite emotional.  This humorous story is about Lillie, whose husband leaves her to seek his “joy” with a younger, beautiful, wealthy widow, just as their only son graduates high school and is on the cusp of going off to college. From the moment Lillie’s marriage falls apart, she is shocked, wondering how she missed the signs. She thought their marriage was perfect. Lillie is quite logical as she plots a little bit of revenge, and to say her stunts are hilarious is putting it mildly. There’s the one involving a skunk, another with shrimp, and not to forget the one on his wedding day on the beach. These stunts of Lillie’s had me laughing out loud, and crying; pure humor. One can't help but support Lillie as she is so shockingly wronged. She is a nurse midwife much beloved in their community and deserves all the support she can get. Yet, we also find ourselves moved by the story of the widow as we learn more about her, an unexpected twist skillfully dealt with. Out of the Clear Blue Sky is about marriage, divorce, empty-nesters and moving on; a story that gives you all the feels and quite relatable.

I highly recommend Out of the Clear Blue Sky to other readers.
