The Way of Us by Claudia Burgoa

 πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

The Way of Us by Claudia Burgoa, book four in her Luna Harbor series, is a heart wrenching, emotional, yet amazing love story between best friends Heath and Atzi; a friend to lovers and fake fiancΓ©. Heath Spearman and Atzi Rivera-Lavigne have been best friends since they first met at grief camp, seventeen years ago. Heath had lost his dad, but had a whole passel of siblings to help carry his grief. Atzi, however, lost a lot more and learned that anyone she loves ends up leaving; a belief that has followed her into adulthood. Heath is now a prominent cardiologist and Atzi a chocolate artist, combining her father's chocolatier profession with her mother's artistic talent. They're still best friends and there's nothing Heath wouldn’t do for Atzi, except lie. When Atzi's grandparents decide to visit, her own little white lie is about to be revealed; the lie that says Heath is her fiancΓ©.

Atzi, and Heath have loved each other but afraid to tell the other so when Heath agreed to be her fake fiancΓ© when her grandparents come to visit, it’s bound to end in tears. While they are pretending, somehow, the lines between fake and real are crossed prior to everything blowing up; destroying a wonderful friendship. If only Heath hadn’t ghosted Atzi, he'd find out he left her a parting gift; a consequence or two of their time together. It takes a tragedy to strike before Heath comes to his senses, returning to Atzi to try to get back together, mend their hearts, and determine if they have can start a new life together.

Despite Heath and Atzi completing each other: she the peace to his turmoil while he is her rock; they will travel a dramatic, twisting, bumpy roller coaster before finding their forever.  If all the drama between these two isn’t enough, a danger and suspense element is added that raises all kinds of questions that don’t quite get answered right now. So Heath and Atzi may have secured their ever after, but the mystery surrounding Atzi's family and her own predicament was yet to be answered, which means the reader is left hanging, hopefully only until the next book.

Ms. Burgoa wrote a wonderful, sizzling and heart wrenching story that should not be missed. She provided a tale with best friends, magnetic attraction, sizzling chemistry, enlightening conversations, and supportive family members, helping Heath and Atzi find a forever together. I highly recommend The Way of Us to other readers.
