Dirty D-Man by Mira Lyn Kelly

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

Mira Lyn Kelly scored another goal with Dirty D-Man, book eight in her Chicago Slayers Hockey series, with Bowie and Piper’s enemies/best friend’s little sister/brother’s best friend story. Piper is the little sister of Boomer, Bowie’s best friend, teammate, and roommate. Piper has had a crush on Bowie since she was a preteen when he came into her life through her brother and hockey. Bowie always saw Piper as his best friend’s little sister until he went away to play hockey and didn’t see her for a few years. After not seeing her for several years, while she grew up, Bowie is surprised to discover that he cannot turn a blind eye to Piper any longer. He knows that Boomer takes his role as older, protective brother very seriously so he ignores the feelings that he has developed in order to keep the peace and his long standing friendship with Boomer. When Piper is between apartments, Boomer suggests she move in with him and Bowie, except when Boomer becomes ill and temporarily moves home. With Boomer away leaving Piper and Bowie alone in the apartment they find it difficult to fight the attraction between them. Giving in is so pleasurable, even if it’s in secret. Of course Boomer is not happy with their relationship when he finds out; putting a strain on Piper and Bowie and their new relationship.

Piper’s character development and the strength she shows was vital to the story. Piper is young and hasn’t decided what she wants to do with herself when she grows up. She has changed her major several times and tried a couple of careers and nothing has stuck for her. She is so hard on herself because family and friends have written her off as being flaky, instead of offering help and guidance to her. She keeps her harsh thoughts of herself private. It is while she is living with Bowie, that he sees that she is so much more. Bowie fiercely fights his feelings for Piper as he helps her see herself differently over time and rather than fighting with each other, they begin to fight for each other. His faith in her helps her to begin to see herself differently and gain the confidence that she needs in order to grow. I loved the update from old characters, the prelude to Boomers story, and above all, the lengths Bowie goes to prove his feelings and prove that Piper is so much more than she believes herself to be, at times.

Ms. Kelly wrote a steamy emotional roller coaster sports romance that should not be missed. She provided a tale filled with emotions, tension, sizzling hot chemistry, passion, humor, clever banter, and secondary characters giving Boomer and Piper a chance at love. I highly recommend Dirty D-Man to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
