To Scotland for Love by Lizbeth Selvig

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

TTo Scotland for Love by Lizbeth Selvig, book two in her Heirs of Craigwarren series, is a wonderful, sweet story that focuses on master craftsman Noah Portman and single mom and teacher Mairi MacDonald, her daughter Ella and their friendship, chemistry, and magnetic attraction as well as the countryside and beauty of Scotland, along with a touch of magic. What a wonderful way to be held hostage by amazing characters, being whisked away to Scotland, falling in love with its beauty, charm, magic, and whimsy, while also falling in love with such wonderful characters.

Noah is known for his carving skills. He has been asked to bid on the ballroom to refurbish it to its former glory in a hotel being restored. There are only two bidders but it will be a feather in his cap if he gets the job. At the same time, he has received a phone call from his brother who desperately needs his help. He is restoring a cabin and the deadline is critical and he needs his help. As his brother never asks for his help, he flies to Scotland to come to his brother’s aid. Mairi MacDonald is currently staying with them after her primary school teaching job is temporally put on hold while she is dealing with family issues. She helped get him arrested and now that he is out, he is determined to ruin her life. She has the sweetest daughter, Ella, who is smart, loves the outdoors, interested in all the folk tales and so endearing that you can’t help but love her. Besides everything that is going on, we have Juliet the goat with her love attraction for Noah and who is a Houdini, constantly getting out of her pen; and will have you laughing at some of her antics.

This continuation of Ms. Selvig's series placed in Scotland is rich in family and lore. There are some twists, turns, and action to go along with the slow burn romance between Noah and Mairi. Mairi's daughter brings lots of motion, imagination, lightness and an extra layer to the story. Noah, the introvert, is brought out of his shell by Mairi, while he is the one person that Mairi feels close to. Despite it being a short period of time, they fall in love, except Noah lives in MN and Mairi lives in Scotland; except love is strong enough to overcome all their obstacles.

Ms. Selvig wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. There is definitely magic going on between the pages, Scottish legends, descriptions of amazing landscape along with bits of magic that run throughout the story. She provided a tale rich with off the charts chemistry, magnetism, wonderful dialogue, charming characters and the magic of love giving Noah and Mairi a chance at love, happiness, and a future together that neither expected. I highly recommend To Scotland for Love to other readers and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
