A Daring Pursuit by Kate Bateman

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

I loved Carys and Tristan’s love story in A Daring Pursuit by Kate Bateman, book two in her Ruthless Rivals series. This is an amazing enemies-to-lovers romance that does not disappoint. As with the first, this story has members of the feuding Welsh Davies family and the English Montgomery family fall in love.

Carys Davies and Tristan Montgomery had long been each other's tormentor, and since their brother and sister, respectively, have married, they are thrown together much more often. Carys is hiding a secret that could ruin her and her family. She acts as if she doesn't care at all about her reputation in society and wears extravagant, sometimes outrageous, outfits; refusing any proposal that comes her way. Tristan sees through her facade and knows that she's hiding something.  At a ball, Tristan unexpectedly discovers Carys's secret, causing the two to strike a scandalous bargain, finding themselves in an enemies with benefits situation. The chemistry between Carys and Tristan is off the charts, and considering their history of being adversaries, they are unable to stay away from each other; Tristan actually becoming very jealous and very protective of Carys.

Ms. Bateman wrote a wonderful, amazing, melodramatic tale of virtue lost, and redemption found hat is not to be missed. Throw in mimic ravens and a music loving bear, and don't forget the enemies to lover's romance. All this and a mystery and humor too. The villain doesn't get his just deserts, but he at least gets taken care of. With sizzling chemistry, witty banter, endearing character, twists and turns, as well as a swoon worthy romance, Carys and Tristan finally have a chance at love, happiness, and a future neither expected.  I highly recommend A Daring Pursuit to other readers and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
