If You Need Me by Helena Hunting
πππππ/5
I loved Hemi and Dallas in If You Need Me by Helena Hunting, book three in the Toronto Terror series, is a wonderful and funny enemies to lovers, fake dating, only one bed, golden retriever, childhood crush, hockey romance that is heartwarming and full of sizzling spice that is hot, hot, hot!! Trigger Warning: anxiety, panic attacks, misogyny, brief mention of adoption, mentions of childhood and workplace bullying
Dallas
Bright, a hockey player for the Terror, has secretly loved Wilhelmina “Hemi”
Reddi-Grinst since the third grade, despite the fact she can’t stand him. In
charge of the hockey team’s PR Hemi has to work with Dallas whether she wants
to or not, while he will do anything to get Hemi’s attention; even signing up
for all of her PR photo shoots, just to be close to her. Hemi gives him the
worst tasks, as she feels it fair since he picked on her all through school and
made her life miserable.
With
their high school reunion coming up, Hemi is determined to return to her
hometown with a boyfriend and show her graduating class she has moved on and is
successful. Unfortunately all of her dates have been awful. One drunken night
Dallas posts a photo of them together, leading everyone to believe they are
really dating. Hemi wants anything but that, however, she agrees to go along
with it for the sake of her job and Dallas’ time with the Terror. They work at
convincing everyone they are together, and Hemi starts to see a different side
to Dallas.
Hemi
was such a relatable character. She feels like she doesn’t fit into this world,
and that like most people, Dallas will find her being too much. Her fears and
insecurities were very real and heartbreaking. When we started to see the
things Dallas had done to help and protect Hemi throughout their history it was
so loving and endearing. Flip is going through something but I suspect he
is not the Terror up next. I so need more Terror in my life and look forward to
the next book in the series.
