Worth a Chance by Lea Coll

 πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

I loved Brook and Ben’s story in Worth a Chance by Lea Coll, book five in the Second Chance Harbor series, is a small town, enemies to friends to lovers romance that I could not put down. This wonderful romance follows Brooke Langley, the owner of the local coffee shop, and Ben Monroe, the owner of a new coffee shop opening up in town. From lemonade stands to coffee shops, Brooke and Ben have been rivals since childhood; but we get to see what happens when a childhood rivalry turns into something different.

Brooke is bold, stubborn, and anxious deep down. She’s confident, but so afraid of having her heart shattered, again; then her childhood nemesis rolls back into town and her entire life is turned on its ear. Ben was described as a jerk by Brooke, but he was a kid, then a teenager. Maybe he was and maybe he still is now as an adult, but he’s trying to not be the kid who annoys the girl he likes this time around. He sees the same drive and spirit in Brooke as he did back then, but now he knows exactly what he wants from Brooke; and he’s not afraid to overwhelm her senses and melt the ice around her tender heart to get her to see just how perfect they are for each other. After being badly hurt, tossed aside, and manipulated by her ex-husband, Brooke does not easily trust men; but Ben makes her think maybe she can trust. Maybe, just maybe, she can lean on him and not get burned along the way. Sometimes, lessons are hard to learn, and maybe they both need to learn a few more before they get things right. The competitiveness between Brooke and Ben was the focus of this story, but the kids, Ben’s daughter Cammie and Brooke’s nephew Hunter, gave depth and layers to the story; making it so much better.

Ms Coll wrote a wonderful romance, filled with humor, magnetic attraction, sizzling chemistry, and life altering changes that is a must read story. Although they had an unlikely friendship, Brooke and Ben truly are meant for each, despite the roller coaster ride they took on the journey discovering their true feelings toward each other, as well as their reactions to a life together.  I highly recommend Worth a Chance to other readers and can’t wait to read the next story.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
