THE MATCHMAKER AND THE COWBOY

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Hunter and Callie’s story in The Matchmaker and the Cowboy by Robin Bielman, book two in her Windsong series, is a charming friends-to-lovers contemporary romance with a wonderful setting, great characters, and a swoon-worthy romance. The story follows Callie Carmichael, a talented dressmaker with a growing reputation for making magical maid of honor dresses that help the wearer find a spouse. When Callie returns to Windsong, she is surprised to find her family gone and the family's house is under renovation. Fortunately the family of her best friend, Nova, needs help and offers her a place to say. Hunter Owens, the town’s most eligible bachelor is recovering from a spider bite and needs care. He’s shocked when he wakes up and sees his long-time crush has been charged with watching over him.

Callie and Hunter might not be on the same page regarding to commitment and love, they have a lot in common. Both are trying to prove something to themselves and others, they are both kind and generous and caring, and they both love their charming small town. Callie sees another side to Hunter, one she’s never seen before; definitely changing her feelings toward him. Together they help each other in thoughtful ways. Hunter helps Callie with her fear of horses, one she’s had since falling off a horse and breaking her back as a teen. He also supports her designing dreams, and they maintain a healthy competition when they run for the same position in town. Callie also helps care for Hunter while he’s recuperating from a black widow spider bite. They see each other at their most vulnerable, which strengthens the connection between them. There is an amazing chemistry that sparks between Callie and Hunter; one that intensifies as the story develops.

Ms. Bielman included many wonderful and amazing characters that added to this story. The Owens family is a model for perfect and accepting families. Niece Jenna is a sweetheart and brings laughter into the story through her various antics. Birdy, the joyous octogenarian, who treats Callie as her granddaughter, and the antics these two get into; including their twitter account, birdcall. I totally enjoyed and highly recommend The Matchmaker and the Cowboy to other readers.
