Single Dad in a Kilt - A Must Read

 πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

Finally, Afton and Hamish story in Single Dad in a Kilt by Kait Nolan, book five in her Kilted Hearts series, the story I’ve been waiting for since the beginning of the Kilted Heart series, and a wonderful way to conclude this series that began with them. This was a story about forgiveness and understanding and friendship and love.

After intentionally gambling away her estate in Scotland to Texas cowboy, Raleigh, Afton Lennox created a new life for herself in Eden Ridge, Tennessee. Her new friends inform her that Connor, the man she was pledged to marry, thanks to a 300-year-old Marriage Pact, is getting married; to her friend Sophie. These new friends gave Afton the strength to go back home and face the consequences of her decision to leave.  She has no idea what has happened in Glenlaig, or how she’ll be greeted; only that she needs to go back and figure out who she is now that the legacy and marriage pact are no longer hanging over her head. Afton arrives, armed with some new talents and skills; amazing in the kitchen as well as stronger and more independent.

Hamish Colquhoun was struggling with all the recent changes in his life: his divorce, being a single father to his twelve-year-old daughter Freya, becoming a small-town lawyer, and finding time to fix up his new home. When Afton returns, they finally have a chance to figure out how to deal with their mutual attraction and chemistry. With Afton in need of a job and Hamish in need of a nanny, they decide to help each other out. Being a nanny to Freya allows for a bonding between the two; especially shared time in the kitchen that were super sweet and moments that melted your heart. When things go wrong between Hamish and Afton, Freya plays a bit of the parent trap game, trying to push those two together; to give her dad Hamish the nudge he needed to claim the woman he had always loved.

Kait Nolan created the perfect finale for the Kilted Hearts series by perfectly incorporating characters from both of her Scotland and Tennessee series. Hamish and Afton were perfect for each other with a foundation of friendship and magnetism, drawing them together. As Afton attempts to find a new place in her old home town, we see not only how well everyone fits together and how much had transpired, her leaving had set in motion. It was wonderful how everyone united to help and support Afton as she forms a new life; especially finding her the perfect way to use the skills she learned while in Tennessee. Best of all was that so many others had found their own happily-ever-afters because one woman was brave enough to change her stars leaving everything she loved behind her.
I highly recommend Single Dad in a Kilt to other readers and look forward to what Kait Nolan has next for her readers; hopefully another Scottish series with Ciara’s story.
