A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery by Linn B. Halton, book two in the Escape to Cornwall series, features Iris, Jess’s best friend from school, and Adam, Iris’ husband. The couple are now past the first year of marriage and things are not going as they planned. Iris has set up her successful bakery in Stroud and Adam is making do with the odd job here and there. However, after Iris’ landlord sells the building where her business currently is, the couple have to think through their options.  Jess, Ivy’s best friend, has a solution: she suggests they should move to Cornwall to start over. She has a shop that Ivy can use to start up her own shop and, to make things even better, there is a cottage that Ivy and Adam can live in.


This is a book about community, about helping others, loving others, and supporting others; how strangers can become friends, and friends who can become family. With a blend of heartwarming characters and the spirit of Christmas, this tale is both cozy and compelling, making it the perfect read to curl up with next to a roaring fire. I highly recommend A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery to other readers who need a dose of holiday cheer.
