Teasing You by Samantha Chase, book two in The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge series, a second chance story for former classmates Ashlynn Donovan and Reid Baylor, until Reid moved away. Ashlynn is a talented hairstylist, but when her short temper leaves her without a job and no other location to work, she is unsure what her next step will be. Reid, a firefighter, returns to Sweetbriar Ridge, the place where he always felt like he belonged. Reid was not expecting that Ashlynn would continue to hold a grudge against him all these years later for something that happened back in high school. These two were definitely oil and water; but as they say opposites attract. Ashlynn finally realized she was not fair to Reid, and making amends, accepted a date with him. Their attraction made their chemistry explode. Everything was going great for them as, Ashlynn decided to open her own hair salon, and Reid was settling in to a career he loved. When someone has it out for Ashlynn causes trouble, soon both their dreams and their love is at risk. This delightful story is moving and heartfelt.

 

Reid was sweet, funny, thoughtful, protective and quite taken with Ashlynn. Ashlynn on the other hand was a bit immature for me and definitely had to grow on me. She had a lot of emotional baggage, but instead of trying to get help with dealing with it, she was holding on to it. Although, once Ashlynn started learning from her past mistakes she started to grow, become stronger and more confident. It was wonderful seeing how they connected, fell in love and learned to fight for their forever love. It was also fun seeing all their family and friends who continue to add so much heart to this story.
