If You Hate Me, book one in the Toronto Terror series, is a brother’s best friend/little sister story that is hilarious, heartwarming and full of sizzling spice that is hot, hot, hot!! Tristan and Beatrix (Rix or “Beat” as Tristan calls her, which she hates) have known each other since they were children and Rix’s brother Flip (Phillip) and Tristan have been best friends since they were kids. Tristan and Flip share a condominium and play professional hockey for the Toronto Terror together. Rix finds herself in a bit of a predicament and ends up staying with them temporarily until she can find a new job and new apartment. It becomes way too crowded, fast as Flip brings a new woman home almost every night; sometimes more than one. And the puck bunnies are LOUD.

Tristan and Rix thrive on their snarky banter as they always have and are experts at pushing each other’s buttons. Feelings are confused, they are no longer able to control their obvious attraction to each other, and the lines blur for the both of them; part of that fine line between hate and love. These two sizzled so hot I’m surprised they didn’t burn down the condo. Tristan was his own worst enemy, on and off the ice; shouldering a lot a responsibility as a child after his mother left his family. He really struggled with his verbalizing his feelings but sure could sweet talk Rix; and he was a royally filthy man. Bea was amazing. Not used to being seen, usually in the shadows due to her brother’s popularity and talent; she is independent as she figures out her place in the world. Rix and Tristan, with their off the charts chemistry, were perfect together; bring out the best peace in each other.  Rix and Tristan have a long rollercoaster journey to travel as they go from hate to something much, much deeper; love.

The secondary characters were a great addition to this story. Rix’s girlfriends are amazing, a force to be reckoned with, and definitely a fierce group in the best possible way. The hockey teammates, brotherhood, are a totally lovable bunch. I can’t wait to read their stories
