Falling for Mr. Safety by Delancey Stewart and Marika Ray

Falling for Mr. Safety by Delancey Stewart and Marika Ray, book two in the No Place Like Home series, is another humorous and entertaining story form the creative writing duo of Marika Ray and Delancey Stewart. From the start, the humor and laughs were abundant as the feisty and independent Juni and her dog, Moxy were introduced. Juni lives in small town Solano Creek and owns a pet store with her best friend. She has family issues that affect her choices. Carter is a security guard for famous people. He spent summers as a child in Solano Creek visiting his grandfather, Roy. Carter is back in Solano Creek temporarily having been enticed there by Roy and his brother, Trey. Carter also has issues from his past that affect his choices. Carter certainly wasn’t interested in assisting Juni with her animal show that she was debuting at the new baseball park. She took too many chances, ignored all of his safety suggestions and was a force to be reckoned with, but in the end, he agreed to help her. The more time he spent with Juni the more he realized that her way of life: spontaneous, carefree, full of fun was so much more enjoyable than his rule-driven life back in California.

Juni and Carter’s unusual, sweet and heart-warming story is about letting go of your fears, your past and your people pleasing tendency, in order to live life. It’s about embracing the messy parts of life with joy. The story is filled with all the emotions, the connections and the love. The book has a little bit of everything: sweet moments, strong friendships, supportive families, weird families, laughs, painful pasts, cute animals, and sweet love all tied up with all the feels. I highly recommend Falling for Mr. Safety to other readers.
