Hot to the Touch by Kate Meader, book three in the Hot in Chicago Rookies series, is an emotional, heartbreaking, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity steamy romance with a grieving twist, and a couple of enchanting children who stole every chapter along with some adorable dogs. This is Sam and Cassie’s emotional and entertaining journey; a hot firefighter, an annoyed sister in-law, tragedy, laughs, and a lot of steam.

 

Sam Killian and Cassandra (Cassie) Ferguson met through their families, his brother married her sister, and from that moment on sparks fly; not always in a good way. When a tragedy occurs, they put their differences behind them as they find themselves co-guardians to their broken-hearted niece and nephew, Maya and Spencer. As they work together, putting their own grief aside, to help the children, they discover growing feelings for each other. Crossing the line might not have been the smartest thing, but when fate has its own agenda there’s nothing they can do to alter that path.

 

The love Sam and Cassie had for their niece and nephew and how they always put these adorable children first added more depth to the story; raising it to a higher level. There are wonderful moments to appreciate in this story Hudson and Jude appearing to babysit, and big moments with Maya and Spencer that will break your heart.

 

Ms. Meader wrote an emotional, amazing, emotional story with all the feels you won’t want to miss. Filled with all the feelings, magnetic attraction, sizzling chemistry, clever banter, a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, and challenging situations giving Sam and Cassie a chance at love, an unexpected family, and a future together. I highly recommend Hot to the Touch to other readers.
