Summer Fling by Lea Coll
Summer Fling by Lea Coll, book five in the Kingston Brothers series, is a wonderful, emotional, heartwarming single dad/nanny, fake dating love story. Dalton enjoys working with his family construction company, but has been a little distracted lately. He is a single father of an adorable little girl, Liliana, and unfortunately his ex, Oakley, keeps causing trouble for him. She drops off Liliana whenever it is convenient for her, never keeps to a schedule, and if Dalton doesn’t do what she asks she screams and threatens to call her lawyer; keeping Liliana from him. Needing help so he can work, he hires a live-in nanny to watch Lili.
Blake
is at a crossroads in her life, taking a break from her child psychology
studies and deciding if she should pursue art therapy in addition. She has been
the part-time nanny for Cooper and Ivy, Dalton’s brother and his wife, and
badly needs a place to live. Blake loves being a nanny and shares her passion
for art with the kids she’s a nanny for.
After
Blake moves in, she discovers Dalton’s custody situation is out of control. Oakley
chooses when, how often, and how long Dalton can see her; often dropping off Lilliana
with little or no notice. It’s sporadic and inconvenient and he has gone along
with it because Oakley constantly threatens to remove visitation at all. When
Oakley discovers that Dalton not only hired a nanny but that she is living with
him she explodes, trying to cause all sorts of trouble. Dalton’s lawyer
suggests it would look more legitimate to the courts if he and Blake were
dating. Instead they decide to fake date as Dalton pursues a more formal
custody agreement. Dalton blooms while Blake lives with him, making his life
better in all areas: with Liliana, with his ex and with his home life better
controlled, and even his work life is better. With Dalton and Blake spending
more time together getting to know each other better, they slowly discover the
strong connection between them; one that they never saw coming.
Between
the strong family dynamics, the dysfunctional ex and the building of an
unexpected relationship this was a very entertaining read despite a few
communication issues. The the loving and sweet relationship Blake and Liliana shared,
the magnetic, sizzling chemistry between Dalton and Blake, and the support they
shared for each other, making what was supposed to be fake, very real. The
strong family dynamics are still present with good friends, an easy
relationship between them and sizzling chemistry. The relationship between
Blake and Liliana was so sweet. It was fun to get updates on the other
Kingston Brothers' romances and how they are developing. I can’t wait for Shep’s
story.
