Second Chance Husband by Carrie Ann Ryan, book three in the First Time series, is a fascinating, second chance, emotional, intriguing read. August Cassidy and Paisley Cassidy Renee were young and in love when they married, but shortly after, he walked away from her without any explanation; leaving her feeling abandoned and having shattered her heart. When she tried again with husband number two, she walked away, when she discovered his cheating. Feeling alone with only work to focus on, Paisley leans on her friends; except her friends are related to the first man who crushed her. August is everywhere, all the time. When she went on vacation with her friends, he ended up in her bed. Despite the love they had for each other, neither one of them weren't ready to talk about the past, nor the present; except circumstances didn't allow them to run away, no matter how much they wanted to.

This was an enjoyable, sizzling novel with horrible parents and wonderful siblings who despite their dysfunctional upbringings turned into wonderful people. I loved how Devney, Luca, Addison and Heath, Greer were all rooting for Paisley and August, not wanting to see either one of them get hurt and learn that communication is vital to any relationship. My heart went out to both of them over their dysfunctional parents, especially Paisley’s mother.
