Chance: A Small Town, Enemies to Lovers, Protector Romance by Lynn Raye Harris

 πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

Chance by Lynn Raye Harris, book two in the Ghost Ops series, is a small town, enemies to lovers, surprise pregnancy, military protector romance; that is the perfect mixture of romance, action, and suspense. From start to finish, I was completely hooked by the chemistry between Chance Hughes and Aurora "Rory" Harper, along with the high-stakes danger that hangs over them.

Rory and Chance have a fling that she ended before she could get her heart broken again; she just can’t take that risk. It’s not that she doesn’t trust Chance, believing he is a player, it’s that she doesn’t trust herself after having her heart broken by her cheating fiancΓ©. But actions have consequences, and in this case, the consequences lead to the over protective Chance moving in. When things start going wrong for Rory, both on her farm and at her family bar, there is no such thing as coincidence. The sabotaging of Rory’s home and business, adds an exciting edge to the romance; while the danger and tension keeps Chance determined to protect Rory and their baby. The small-town setting filled with quirky characters, small town gossip, a secret mission full of high stakes intrigue, a heroine realistically living with diabetes, and lots of steam guide them on their emotional journey to a forever love; neither expected to find.

Ms. Harris does an excellent job at weaving the high-stakes tension with the tender nurturing of a romance between Rory and Chance. This is not only a story that’s not only about love but about fighting for what truly matters. If you love military protector romances, strong-willed heroines, and emotionally complex heroes, you won't be able to put this book down.
