Shielding the Innocent Target by Terri Reed
πππππ/5
Shielding the Innocent Target by Teri Reed is a breathtaking mixture of romantic suspense and unshakeable faith. It is definitely not for the faint of heart as it’s a white-knuckle rollercoaster ride where danger lurks around every corner. This book pulled me into the story, and I did not want to put it down. I really loved getting to know the characters in this book, and the mystery in this book kept me guessing. When everything was revealed it made sense, but I did not see it coming.
Paige
Walsh just witnessed the murder of her boss, a federal prosecutor, along with files
for a major, upcoming trial are missing; putting her life at risk. She and her
son Kenny, and their dog Alsan, need to be placed into witness protection and will
be escorted by Deputy US Marshal Lucas. Everywhere they go they are met with
danger, someone is tipping off the murderer; meaning there is a leak somewhere
down the line of command. Lucas has to keep Paige and her son safe as well as
himself. He needs to keep them all from danger, and try to keep their hearts
from getting broken in the process. But the more they come to rely on each
other’s nearness, the harder this case becomes. They both know there is no
future for them. Once she enters witness protection, all ties to each other
will be lost forever; yet neither of them want to consider that reality. They
need each other now more than ever. She needs his protection and he will
protect her and Kenny, no matter what.
What truly sets this book apart is the pervasive
sense of danger. Unlike stories with temporary safe havens, the threat here is
a constant companion. No matter the bustling city or desolate highway, the
assassin seems to be one step ahead, leaving Paige and Lucas perpetually on
edge. This relentless pursuit creates a suffocating atmosphere, amplifying the
emotional stakes with every turn of the page. Journey from Florida to Texas as danger, romance, and a crazed killer
has you turning pages until you reach the end. This is a definite must-read for
suspense lovers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary
copy of this book.
