Witches of Dubious Origin by Jenn McKinlay is an adventurous and cozy fantasy that comes with magic, mysterious vibes, and supernatural creatures with some humor. It is a delightful novel and I was fully immersed while reading it. Be sure to read the content warnings.

 

Zoe, a librarian, receives a mysterious black book containing an unbreakable latch. After opening it, she learns about her family’s past and begins uncovering their secrets. Now she has to decide if she wants to accept her role as a witch or not. A containment specialist named Jasper helps Zoe with this decision; whether or not should she continue the family’s legacy. Themes explored in this book are a new found family, embracing destiny and family legacy, the power of books and knowledge, facing the past, uncovering secrets, magic and the supernatural, and a comforting romance. Filled with lovable characters, I recommend this book for fans of cozy fantasies with heart and bite. This one is worth your time.
