Seeing You by Samantha Chase

 πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–/5

Seeing You by Samantha Chase, book four in The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge series, is an emotional roller coaster, second chance love story that grabbed me from page one not letting go until I read the last one.

Billie Donovan left her fiancΓ©e and her high power, stressful job in the world of finance to return home to Sweetbriar Ridge and help her younger sisters.  Despite being with her high school sweetheart, she felt unheard, misunderstood. After trying a few jobs in banking, she decided to follow her dream and bake for a living. She became a partner in Books and Beans where they sell her bake goods.

Marcus Calloway is the kind of guy you hate, but can't help but love. He's stubborn, career-driven, and lives a life of regret; his biggest regret is losing Billie. Billie loved Marcus fiercely and only walked away because she felt as though she had no choice. Now that Billie's life is in a good place, Marcus walks back into her world; turning everything upside down. Marcus sees the world as black and white, with blinders allowing him to see what he wants to see. He couldn’t understand why Billie disliked their life in DC or why she would leave him; the day before they were to elope. Being back in VA, Marcus reconnects with his brother as he also allowed him to open his eyes, finally understanding and forgiving his father.

Despite the ten years apart, the chemistry and love burned hotter than ever between Marcus and Billie. If only they didn't share a history full of hurt, miscommunications, misunderstandings, and complications. Marcus and Billie's story is definitely one filled with angst and frustration, but their journey to happiness is worth overcoming each of the obstacles standing in their way.

I enjoyed catching up with the Donovan siblings and their spouses and love how the hints as to who will be next to fall in love in the series; or is it a new series.
