From an instant attraction meet cute with a misunderstanding, to a boss-employee situation, the laughs are plentiful. Then there are the cousins. Not only do they all room in a building owned by their grandparents and create hilarious games and dares, they are friends. I never heard of billboard assassin before but I can imagine the creativity the winners will have with the losers. Much of the relationship was built through text messages between Isabella and Blake as they got to know each other better since the company had a no dating policy.   Painter created a magical romance that blends Isabella and Blake’s worlds beautifully. The story begins when Claire discovers her parents brutally murdered when she arrives home from work one night. The two are work from home lawyers and don't seem to have any known enemies. Who could possibly want to murder this normal, white collar couple? The case isn’t as straightforward as it might seem and when the daughter, Claire Mason, is stalked at the park it seems likely she might be the next target. Then there was the call about an alligator in nearby Grey Lake; except alligators aren’t supposed to be in New York. From page one I was held hostage by this story with its twists and turns that were unexpected and ingenious, until I reached the surprising conclusion.  The twists, turns, and red herrings kept me on my toes while the tension built in this psychological thriller.
