I LOVE THESE BADGES OF THE BAYOU HEROES - Bayou with Benefits by Erin Nicholas

Bayou with Benefits by Erin Nicholas, book two in her Badges of the Bayou series is another “can’t put down,” “laugh out loud” tale, with wit, heat, heart, love, and the unexpected; everything I've come to love about her books and Autre, Louisiana. This is a friends-to-lovers romance that follows firefighter, paramedic, and single dad Michael LeClair and model and make-up influencer Amelia, ‘Ami’, Landry.
Michael and Ami have
been friends forever, as their families are close. Model Ami has been labeled
the “pretty one” but she loves playing video games; especially with Andre,
Michael’s son, and dressing up as their characters. The attraction between Michael
and Ami has been building for years, but neither wants to do the long distance
thing, therefore being only friends until Ami is badly injured in a car
accident. No wanting to hide her scars, Ami struggles with her job as
spokesperson for a cosmetic company. As
Ami tackles her situation through social media, she learns there are differing
views and opinions regarding the
acceptance of scars, the consequences of accidents and the role of make up to
empower women; along with covering up what is natural vs. hiding and
society's expectations of perfection. As Ami helps those wanting to cover-up
skin issues, she allows herself to re-examine her attitude. Though Ami’s
journey to recovery was rocky, Michael was there to support and love her.
Michael and Amir are wonderful, rich characters who are strong, empowering
people. The witty dialog, flirting, and sometimes crazy situations were often hilarious,
as were the interactions with their friends, family, and the animals in Autre.
The sparks and chemistry between them were off the charts, enough to set anything
near them aflame. The magic, love and support of the Landrys and LeClairs helped
them grow; building a loving relationship and future together. I highly recommend Bayou with Benefits to other readers and look forward to the next
book in this series.
