Take Me to the Wedding by Miranda Liasson
Take Me to the Wedding by Miranda Liasson, book two in The Amazing Doctors of Oak Bluff series, is wonderful, heartwarming, humorous, emotional, enemies-to-lovers, best friend’s brother, friends and family romance. It is heartfelt reminder that when you let your guard down and allow yourself to be vulnerable, the right person won’t let you fall; they will catch you.
Caleb D’Angelo and Samantha Bashar are both residents at Milwaukee’s Children
Hospital, he in orthopedics and she in anesthesiologist, live across the hall
from each other and who know how to push each others’ buttons. In addition,
Caleb is the older brother of Sam’s best friend, Mia. Growing up, their lives
were completely different. Caleb, almost finished with his pediatric orthopedic
internship comes from a loving, boisterous Oak Bluff family who is loud and
full of love. Sam’s childhood was difficult until she and her much younger
sister were taken in by their grandmother, a matchmaker. Sam doesn’t really believe in love, is very
competitive, and determined to take care of her sister and accomplish her goals.
At first they seem as compatible as water and oil but when they are
forced together during a drive to a friend’s wedding, Sam apologizes for a
rumor that was started by her about Caleb; agreeing to help him reconnect with
his old love, Lily. The more time Caleb spends
with Lilly, the more he sees her in a different light, and he's not sure it’s positive.
The more he sees of Sam has him having a change of heart about his feelings for
her while she is also seeing him differently. There seems to be something
sparking between them other than their former antagonism toward each other.
That maybe what a person shows the world is a cover-up for the real person;
covering up their true feelings and fears.
