Highland Stars by Kait Nolan, book three in the Special Ops Scots series, is a wonderful, heartwarming,
emotional, love, danger, and surprises while suspenseful at times. The story is
rich with a steamy romance intertwined with well-crafted suspense, all set
against the breathtaking backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. Add to that an
endearing cast of pets and a close-knit yet evolving circle of friends, and you
have an irresistible combination.
Finn Patterson, and Saoirse
MacGregor got off on the wrong foot when they first meet. One could argue that
they gave each other grief because they were attracted to each other. Finn,
along with his fellow team members and business owners, is grappling with the
death of one of their own while learning that he has inherited a military dog
named Ajax; a well-trained canine soldier who has saved his life on multiple
occasions.
When Saoirse's university best friend, Isla,
fails to check in during her research expedition in the remote highlands, she
knew something was wrong. Saoirse turns to the team at Out of Bound Scotland
for guidance and assistance. Finn, a good tracker, volunteered to take his dog,
Ajax, and find her. Saoirse was a stubborn woman, refusing to let him go
without her. Trekking together through the rough trails, Finn and Saoirse are
able to discover so much more about each other; liking what they learn. As they
go deeper into the search, they soon discover that the majestic Highlands were shielding
darker secrets. What begins as a routine search and rescue mission quickly
escalates into a dangerous adventure filled with unexpected twists and turns.
This book goes to
show first impressions are not always what they seem and I loved watching this
couple really get to know each other. This book is a page turner with an edge
of your seat plot, characters you can relate to and found it hard to put down.
