The heartbreak Chance, and Rowan went through prior to their one-night fling with it an unexpected consequence, factored so much into their relationship. Even Chance’s teen daughter Sam was dealing with a lot of confused feelings: losing her mom, relocating to a new community, making friends, wanting to be loved. You can sense that Ms. Knupp wrote this story from the heart, if not from experience.   I loved how Rowan befriended Sam, sharing parental loss at a young age.
