If You Claim Me by Helena Hunting
If
You Claim Me by Helena Hunting, book book five in the Toronto Terror series, a wonderful, emotional, heartwarming, best friend’s enemy, forced proximity, billionaire,
grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, marriage of convenience, hockey romance.
When librarian Mildred,
Dred, Reformer learns that she is in a financial nightmare, she has no idea who
to turn to. Growing up in the foster care system, she struggles with trust and
refuses to ask her best friend and neighbor, Flip Madden. Connor Grace, hockey
villain currently of the Toronto Terror team, receives little support or
encouragement from his wealthy family, owners of a hotel chain worth billions,
except for his grandmother, Meem. His grandmother’s biggest wish is to see him
happy and not alone. When Connor accidently discovers Dred’s financial
situation, he steps up, suggesting that he would help her out if she will enter
a marriage of convenience with him. For Connor it’s win-win, but Dred is
unsure, until he learns who his Meem is; a library patron who she has become
good friends with.
Connor’s grandmother
was the only person to truly know and see and understand him, at least until
Dred enters his life. Dred makes sure that Connor interacts with his teammates
off the ice, especially as the wives and girlfriends of these men were her
closest friends. The more time he spent with Dred Connor stops seeing himself
as an outsider and let those around them see beneath the billionaire hockey
player villain facade and see the real Connor. I loved the nicknames
these two had for each other and that Connor called her Mildred, instead of
Dred, to show her how special she is. Connor’s actions spoke a lot about his feelings for
Dred and he wanted nothing more than to see her happy and surrounded by the
people who mean the most to her.
This amazing story is filled with love, support, forgiveness,
a supportive group of friends, and found family, mixed with humor, magnetic
attention and sizzling chemistry. The last book in the Terror series is next
and I can’t wait to see the reformed Flip and the coach’s daughter, Tally, get
a happily ever age despite an age gap.
