Free Falling by Jill Shalvis
Free Falling by Jill Shalvis, book two in the Colborn Brothers
series, is a heartwarming, opposites attract, rivals to lovers, close
proximity, with laugh out moments, small town shenanigans, and found family.
Caleb Colburn and Emma Sumner met
as college students with the same major and shared classes, quickly becoming
rivals over misunderstood circumstances. An injury ended Caleb’s NHL hockey
career, sending him home to finally use his Architecture degree. He is hoping
that being the project manager on the current project will prove himself to his
older brother and secure his place in the family business. Unfortunately, Emma
is also back in town, working as an architect
liaison on the same project. Emma is concerned, her job is temporary and she
would love for it to be permanent, but working with Caleb could cause all sorts
of problems. In addition, she is homeless, at the moment, waiting on an
apartment opening, still angry at Caleb getting the scholarship that would have
helped her with expenses while in college, and trying to adult. Working on the beautiful historic building, secrets are
revealed, mysteries are uncovered, and a mutual attraction ignites from the
chemistry arcing between them, bringing them closer and closer; to finding love.
Ms.
Shalvis excels when she writes a family series; delivering on heart, humor and honest emotion. The way she writes
sibling relationships with their
drama and their love for each other is charming, beautiful, and delightful;
immediately drawing me in and making me invested in and caring cared about all
of the characters and excited for their books. I’m can't wait to read about the
next Colburn to find love.
