Legacy by Carrie Ann Ryan
Legacy
by Carrie Ann Ryan, book one in the Ashford Creek series, is a wonderful, emotional, swoony, age gap, brother’s best friend, forbidden romance with some suspense
thrown in; that I couldn’t put down. Two years ago, after one of the worst
nights of her life, Felicity’s crush on her older brother’s best friend only
grew, making it impossible to stop thinking about him. She is living at home,
working in town, and can’t help but run into him. Wanting to be a bit more
independent, Felicity wants to move out on her own, but there is limited availability
of rental housing in town.
Callum, a former NFL
star, has become a small town brewer after a career ending injury him out of
the game and back home to Ashford Creek. After helping Felicity two years ago,
Callum has been unable to stop thinking about her; believing he will never be
good enough for her because of his father. He even helps her find a house to
rent; one that happens to be across the street from him. As they spend time
together, feelings explode and chemistry sizzles, making it impossible for them
to keep their hands off each other. They decide keeping this relationship a
secret from family and friends is best. When danger appears, when they least expect it, threatening Felicity, Callum is determined to
protect her, at all costs.
Ms. Ryan proved,
once again, how talented and amazing she is at creating stories, and series,
about families; their strength, love, and support, even in dissension. Felicity
and Callum together were amazing; especially their secret meet-ups and hidden
glances. They might have thought they were fooling others, but I’m not so sure.
The found families and friends were an added layer and I suspect the future heroes
and heroines are in for a ride. I loved the ending and the bonus epilogue made and
cannot wait for the next book in this series with the teaser we got.
