Christmas Bride's Stand-in Groom by Sophie Pembroke, book one in the Blame It on the Mistletoe series, is an enjoyable, heartwarming
story full of love and friendships, forgiveness and building new relationships. This book is a twist on the fake-dating trope with rivals-to-lovers vibes.

Florist Millie and her best friend Charlie decide to get married and have a Christmas wedding, after his on-and-off-again girlfriend got married. This plan means Millie can have the family she longs for before time runs out and Charlie can have an heir to pass his title on to and carry on the family business. Giles is Charlie’s other best friend, and he and Millie have been rivals for Charlie’s attention, and be number one best friend, agrees to be the best man. When Charlie is required to spend several months in Scotland on business, he asks Giles to help Millie with the wedding planning; ensuring that she is not steamrolled by his family. Giles has sworn off marriage but finds himself attracted to Millie, with her feeling the same. Giles is really a good guy, struggling to stop falling in love; but the heart wants what the heart wants. With sparks flying and chemistry sizzling, Millie and Charlie deserve love: real, genuine love and their time together were filled with love and the true desire to make each other happy shone through. I look forward to Charlie and Liberty’s story; hopefully the next book.
